CURRICULUM VITAE

Aleksandar Ž. Rakić was born in Zrenjanin, Serbia, on Sep. 27, 1975. He received the Dipl. Ing., Magister, and Ph.D. degrees, all in electrical engineering (process control) from the University of Belgrade, School of Electrical Engineering, Serbia, in 2000, 2004, and 2010, respectively.

Since 2001 he has been affiliated with the University of Belgrade, School of Electrical Engineering, Serbia, where he is currently Associate Professor and the Head of the Signals & Systems Department. His teaching activity includes following undergraduate courses: Control Systems 2 (continuous and digital linear control design), Nonlinear Systems 1 (analysis of nonlinear dynamical systems), Nonlinear Systems 2 (conventional nonlinear and fuzzy control design), Multivariable Control, Neural Networks, as well as M.Sc. courses of Robust Multivariable Control, Control Systems Design, and Nonlinear Control Methods (advanced design and application of nonlinear control). At the Ph.D. level studies, he introduced and currently teaches courses of Distributed Sensing & Control Systems and Applied Robust Optimization.

Aleksandar Rakić is the coauthor of a university textbook on Signals & Systems. He published 13 papers in JCR SCI list journals and over 40 other journal and conference papers. Aleksandar Rakić participated in six international scientific projects, as well as in several national research & development projects supported by Ministry of Science, Republic of Serbia.

Aleksandar Rakić has been the member of the IEEE since 2001, where he is currently the Vice Chair of the IEEE Serbia and Montenegro Section's Computational Intelligence Society Chapter CIS11-CH08418 (other IEEE society memberships: IAS, IES and PELS). He is a reviewer for multiple peer–reviewed journals, such as IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, IEEE Systems Journal, International Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems, International Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, Electrical Engineering, Robotica, Automatika, Engineering Review, Serbian Journal of Electrical Engineering, Telfor Journal, as well as conferences (TELFOR, ETRAN, INDEL, etc.).

The professional activity of Aleksandar Rakić is also being realized through the School's business cooperation program. He led, consulted, or took part in the several engineering projects implemented in South-East Europe region (Bosnia, Hungary, Serbia, Montenegro), involving the fields of Advanced Metering Infrastructure for the Smart Grid, building automation, HVAC, SCADA, and embedded systems design & implementation (x86, PIC, ARM, and proprietary hardware platforms). He was holding the position of the Consultant for Automation and Process Control with the enterprise of UNIT-EM, Malta, and its subsidiary UNIT Engineering, Serbia, from 2004. to 2016.

His current research interests include control design in distributed and networked systems, robotics, electrical drives, power electronics, unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as advanced metering and customer-side systems within the smart grid.
